Early Life
- Born to a Zamindari family in the year 1939 in Thiruthani Taluq which was formerly a part of Chittoor district, AP.
- After the abolition of the Zamindari system the family had to go through a lot of thick and thin. Despite his father’s death and other financial constraints, his mother worked very hard to give him the best education possible.
- Did schooling in Rajampet, Cuddapah where he excelled in academics and also participated in various extra-curricular activities like playing Kabbadi, Tenniquoits, practised weaving and joined scouts.
- He had a keen interest in Biology and thus joined Biology stream. He finished Intermediate in SV Arts and Science college, Tirupati in the year 1957.
- Finished MBBS from Kurnool Medical College in 1962.
- Got married to Gundlagutta Jayaprada in 1962. She was the niece of the freedom, fighter Sri.
- Koti Reddy who later served as a cabinet minister of Madras State and also as a the Deputy Chief Minister in Kurnool.
- Completed service in various departments as Asst. surgeon in anaesthesia, orthopaedics, anatomy between 1963-64.
- He later completed M.S. General Surgery at King George Medical College, Lucknow in 1966 and joined OGH as Assistant professor in department of general surgery upto 1970.
Professional Life
- This was when he got the opportunity to join MCh. in PGI, Chandigarh in the year 1971. He got trained under the Father of Plastic Surgery in India, Dr. Chakkiri Balakrishnan and completed it in 1973.
- He joined as the professor of Plastic Surgery, Kurnool Medical College and Hospital from 1976 to 1993 during which time he even went abroad for about 5 years in a tertiary care hospital
- In 1993, he joined back to OGH as professor of Plastic Surgery.
- During his time in OGH, he was appointed as the Medical Superintendent during which time he had taken it upto himself to maintain the cleanliness of the hospital. Also at this time due to the co-operation between the Government of Japan and Governement of Andhra Pradesh, medical equipemnts worth 20 crores were sanctioned to OGH which he made sure went to the right departments.
- He was instrumental in conducting the Association of Plastic surgeons conference at Osmania Medical College, Hyderabad.
- He got retired from the Government service in the year 1997.
- He later joined as HOD of Plastic Surgery in Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences, Puttaparthi, Ananthpur Dt., A.P.
- He was the key person in developing the department in SSIHMS from scratch.
Awards and Recognition
- Due to long years of government service in various hospitals, he has been recognized as a Special Grade Profesor and Special Grade Civil Surgeon by the government of Andhra Pradesh.
- He was also given the post of Additional Director of Medical Education in Andhra Pradesh.
- Received a special mention and a memento from the then Union Minister Sri J.P. Nadda for his exemplary services in the field of Plastic Surgery.
