Membership

the following types of members Shall constitute APRAS.

Honorary member

life member

Associate member

Admission:

Admission to membership shall be by application only except for the honorary membership, which shall be on the invitation.

admission shall be granted at a business meeting of the General Body of APRAS, on the Recommendation of the Executive Council, by a simple majority of the members present, subject to the eligibility of the provision for each category as defined.

Honorary Member:

Eligibility:

Any eminent plastic surgeon from India or abroad who has made a significant contribution to the cause of plastic surgery, and who has been sponsored by two life members and approved by the Executive Council and elected by the General Body.

Right and Privileges:

Can participate as an honoured guest in all scientific activities of the association without having to pay the subscription. He/she cannot be elected to any office or has the right to vote in any election of the association, nor can participate in any business meeting.

Life member:

Eligibility:

A person who has obtained a recognised qualification in plastic surgery and who is actively involved in the practice of the same

Who is duly proposed and seconded by two life members of the APRASin the prescribed forms.

Who submits his/her application form with necessary copies of his/her qualification and prescribed admission fees and the subscription.

Whose name of the Due recommendation is properly Scrutinized by the executive Council and whose name, is approved by the General Body of the association.

Conferment:

The membership will be conferred to the applicant after the necessary formalities in a formal ceremony at the following General Body Meeting of the association.

Failure of the applicant to appear in person at the time of confirmation of membership may disqualify him/her, and postpone the confirmation till the next General Body Meeting.

Unless otherwise decided by the executive.

Decision of the executive shall be final and the executive is not answerable for any his/her and the questions in this connection

Obligations:

Life member shall

  • Pay the prescribed admission fees and the subscription along with his/her application.
  • Maintain and abide interest in plastic surgery.
  • Observe high standards of medical ethics and behaviour, and
  • Uphold the objectives, the good name, dignity and the traditions of the APRAS.

Rights and privileges:

Practice in all activities of APRAS.

Vote In Person/At A Business Meeting/General Body Meeting on Any Issue but Particularly in Matters Pertaining to Election of Office Bearers, Accounts, And Financial Matters, Admission to Membership, Termination of The Membership, Amendments to Rules and Regulations and Fixing of Subscription, Etc.

Stand For Election for Executive Council (Subject to The Provisions of The Relevant Articles)

Membership And Privileges Resulting from The Affiliation of APRAS, To Various National and International Bodies.

Associate Member:

Postgraduate students or trainees in plastic surgery and in any other individual, who otherwise is not eligible for the lifetime membership, but whose involvement is considered beneficial to the APRAS, may be accepted as an associate member, after completion of the necessary formalities as prescribed for the Grand of Life membership.

The associate membership shall be for a period of three years (3 years) only.however, this maybe regrant for a further period of three more years, on the Recommendation of the Executive.

Rights and privileges:

Participate in all scientific and cultural activities of APRAS.

No voting rights in any matter or election, and cannot be elected to any office in the executive.

Subscription and fees:

Admission fees:
admission fee of Rs 1000 is payable by all members expecting honorary member, at the time of admission.

Life member Rs 8000

Associate member: Rs 5000 (3 years membership)

The subscription and fees have referred to in this article shall be determined byAPRAS, and can be changed on the Recommendation of the Executive Council at any General Body Meeting of the association by a simple majority.

Termination of membership::

  • On non-payment of dues: any person who fails to fulfil the financial obligation to the association as prescribed or
  • On providing false information: person who is found to have provided false information to enable him to secure his membership in the association or
  • On harmful conduct: any person whose conduct and behaviour or not in the spirit of a good member or in line with the objectives of the association or whose conduct is considered harmful to the interest of the association or
  • Who wishes to discontinue his/her membership on personal reasons

If it shall appear to the executive Council that the membership of any member shall be suspended for any of the reasons mentioned above, the members of the executive in one of the regular meetings of the executive shall consider this proposal and after such consideration if decided to suspend the membership of the said member, the same must be communicated to the said member by letter, informing him/her about the suspension of the membership till the next General Body Meeting.

The president shall inform the members of the General Body about the action taken by the executive and the reasons for such an action. Then the same may be put to discussion and following which the members of the General Body shall express their decision by vote the action of the executive will be confirmed if the general body votes in Favor f the action to terminate the membership of the said member.

The resolution should be void and of no effect unless past by 2/3rd of the members attending the general body meeting.
